Colesent Cottages

Guest Comments - Hollyhill

September 2008

Hollyhill is a nice place to relax. The cottage is very nice and comfortable and the garden is beautiful. There are many things and places to look at in the countryside. We enjoyed our holidays in Cornwall. Thank you very much! A couple from Germany - 2 week stay.

August 2008

Our second time at Colesent and hopefully not our last. We had a traffic jam in the lane, got stuck behind five badgers! Nobody minded!

Had a lovely restful fortnight. Cottage lovely, had all we needed. Dogs enjoyed garden and walks along Camel trail. Weather awful but we did not let that stop us! Thanks Gary and Maureen for a treat with the Cream Tea and flowers on arrival, it was very nice to have that waiting for us.

July 2008

Had a fantastic time, would love to stay longer. Thank you to Gary & Maureen for being perfect hosts as usual! We will be back next year, especially if cow herding is included !!?! Some cows came into our grounds from the adjoining fields and our guests and the local farmer enjoyed rounding them up and sending them back to where they should have been!

We have had a good time in this fantastic cottage, very clean, massive garden and lovely rooms.

June 2008

Another wonderful relaxing holiday in this delightful cottage. A real home from home with a warm welcome.

My sisters first holiday with myself and my four children. Fantastic time! Great weather, we loved the cottage and we had a fantastic time with our friends and hosts Gary and Maureen. Thanks to them for helping make it a holiday we will remember x

Had a great Royal Cornwall Show which was made better by a quiet relaxing cottage and accommodating proprietor.

May 2008

Having got back to the UK from a ten day business trip to China, Vietnam and Hong Kong two days before arriving at Colesent it has to be said this idyllic spot reminds you that England has its own slices of heaven and this is surely one of them. From 5 star hotels to Paradise  from noise and bustle to peace and tranquillity, this  is 'home from home' and one to come back to. We need say no more, thank you Gary and Maureen. Oh except to say we did the Colesent Challenge ! Cycling 34.5 miles to Padstow and back (Camel Trail) and my bum still hurts!

A thoroughly enjoyable time, very comfortable in tranquil surroundings. Great walks with our dog - Camel Trail, Shell woods beaches etc. Weather great - an added bonus. Would love to come back. Many thanks.

Short but ever so sweet as always. The perfect tonic just as you promised. Simply cannot tire of this place and your impeccable service. The boys (dogs) are exhausted although we are totally revived. Love as always and see you soon xxx

April 2008

For fear of repeating ourselves, once again a great chance to relax and unwind, thanks again to Gary and Maureen.

Have had a wonderful 11 days - weather excellent, loved the garden and cottage. Cornwall has been everything we hoped it would be. Took a while (4 days) to operate the T.V but soon got used to it........Thank you so much for a beautiful holiday. (very sorry about the TV - I will improve the instructions on how to use but to any future guests - please don't suffer in silence!)

Had a wonderful time, we really liked the area and the cottage was great. We would like to come back again. Thank you to Gary and Maureen!

March 2008

The ideal location, lovely garden, views over the surrounding countryside, good (dry) weather, great accommodation all helped to make a wonderful holiday. Many thanks - loved the welcome & flowers & milk!

This is our third time at Colesent. Still have a fabulous time - will be back. Bob and Karen want to try the Colesent Challenge (Cycling to Padstow and back - see August 2007 entry). Thanks for everything it was a very special 60th birthday.

Feb 2008

Lovely setting, accommodation really good value and our hosts most friendly and welcoming.

January 2008

In spite of the weather your cottage was so comfortable, warm and cosy.... Everything was first class. We would love to come back at a later date. (Two Cornish sisters in their 80's who had moved away to Birmingham and Scotland coming back to see kith and kin. They stayed for 3 weeks and were driven about by Colin (son/nephew) who also made the trip.)

Christmas and New Year 70/08

A great time had by all. The cottage beautiful, idyllic location and the thoughtfulness of the extras much appreciated. Lovely not to have to buy cleaning products etc. Scones were gorgeous. Basket of goodies and milk a lovely touch. Hope to return in the summer. Enjoyed seeing in the New Year in Hollyhill...... (now rebooked for next New Year!)

We are returning guests having stayed in Swallow's Nest cottage in April. I'd love to tell you that all was awful and it was the worst Christmas ever - TO KEEP EVERYONE ELSE AWAY - But again the stay has been perfect. The cottage and location is nothing short of heaven...............Go to Cardinham woods for walks and cream teas and The Maltsters Arms at Chapel Amble for dinner OR just stay in and enjoy a slice of Utopia at Colesent. xxxxx

A great time.....Cottage a comfortable base after days out. Would recommend Camel trail Bike rides, Eden Project, Portcothan and Trebarwith Strand (check tide times!)

Our third time staying here, always fab and relaxing. Seal sanctuary at Gweek good for families on dull days. See you again!

July  2007

Great 2 weeks, very lucky with the weather. You cannot beat the location of this place. Best Beaches are Porthcothan and Polzeath. People who stay here must complete the "Colesent Challenge" which is Poleys Bridge to Padstow and back! Colesent Challenge - Cycling along the Camel trail - about 35 miles round trip! Poley's Bridge is the bridge across the Camel at the end of our drive.

November 2006

Warm and comfortable cottage but missing one thing - egg cups! Great place to explore Cornwall's north and south coast even in November! [Actually there were egg cups in the cupboard all the time!]

Lovely cottage, luxurious fixtures and fittings. Absolute solitude - lovely. We've been able to see North and South coastal villages, the moor - even Lands End from this base. And we've had 10 days of lovely weather (well...OK....8) Thanks for letting us stay!

We've had a great time here surfing at Polzeath & visiting the amazing Eden Project. Beautiful cottage and surroundings. We all enjoyed the scones and cream on arrival. Thanks for a great holiday!

"If you're looking for the ideal spot to get away from everything stressful, the search is over. Myself, wife, 3 children and our dopey spaniel (Oscar) have just returned from a fantastic week in the Hollyhill Cottage. The place was spotless, well equipped, and Gary and Maureen couldn't have been more helpful".

"We can thoroughly recommend this as the ideal stress-free retreat for a relaxing break. If you want to admire the birdlife from the window, laugh at the squirrels' antics, or go exploring the magnificent countryside and beaches on foot, by car, or by bike (great fun!), then this little piece of Cornwall has it all".
